Course Reflective Narrative:
By taking this course I fulfilled MLO 3: Literary and Cultural Knowledge. Through this course I was able to learn more about the diverse literature found in Spanish/Hispanic Literature. We spent a majority of the time reading different authors works for homework and would return the next class to discuss more in-depth, the concepts and themes presented and how it ties to life in general.
The class was split into three sections; the first one was all about short stories and fiction, the second was about poetry and the last one was all about plays and screenwriting. I really enjoyed the first section because I've always found short stories and novels very interesting and in this class I was able to gain more knowledge about famous short stories in Hispanic Literature. I was also able to learn a lot from my peers and how the Spanish language works in such a formal setting like writing.
Overall, I was able to gain a lot from this class and really enjoyed the final outcome of the class; where after reading all the literature given to us, we were able to work in groups to create a short video with our interpretation of one of the literary pieces. It was a very specific task and it had to be done all in Spanish with our own original thoughts. It was something I found very effective in helping me understand Hispanic literature.
