Course Reflective Narrative:
I took this course over the course of three classes while studying abroad and it was the equivalent of taking Spanish 301 at CSU Monterey Bay. Because I was a student studying abroad I was given the opportunity to better my Spanish through these courses of Spanish Communication and Grammar. I already had a firm understanding of how the Spanish language worked, as well as verb form and different tenses, but through this classes I was able to push myself a little more and ask questions about certain aspects of the language that I was not sure about and would second myself on.
Not many foreign exchange students took this course so I was given the unique opportunity to get great mentoring in the Spanish language, which proved to be very helpful.
Spanish 301 fulfills MLO 1, which is Language Proficiency. When I first arrived in Chile, I took a three week intensive language course all about reviewing Spanish and preparing us for our school year abroad. During my first semester abroad I took Advanced Spanish, where we reviewed the past and imperfect tenses of the Spanish Language and we were mostly graded on how much we talked in class; because it was all about getting us more advanced and able to talk, which fulfills the Spanish Communication part.
My second semester abroad I took a Superior Spanish class, one of my favorites, because the professor took the time to teach us easy ways to remember certain tenses of the Spanish Language that I could never figure out before. We would write weekly essays, which we turned in for feedback and corrected for the next week.
I found all three courses very helpful and as I think back on it, I have really improved my grammar in Spanish a lot because of these classes and I continue to learn new things about the language with each class I take.
Below is sample work from each of the three courses I took:
